Melinda Gates was born on August 15, 1964 in Dallas, Texas. Gates, the second of four children, grew up with her family. Her father, Raymond Joseph, was an aerospace engineer working on the Apollo space program, and her mother was Elaine Agnes, a stay-at-home mom. Melinda's mother, who thought it would be nice if she could go to university, focused on her children's higher education. For that the family spends the weekend maintaining their rental property as a way to earn tuition for their children. When Melinda was 14, her father bought the Apple II computer and it was one of the first computers to be sold to consumers. Gates learned computer programming and persuaded her parents to put it in her bedroom so she could play computer games. Melinda developed an early interest in computers while attending high school math class and love for science and technology continued when she attended the Ursuline Academy, an all-girls Catholic high school for in Dallas. During her senior years, she toured the campus of Duke University and fell in love with their computer science department. A year later, when Melinda graduated from the Ursuline Academy, she received her bachelor's degree in computer science and a master's degree in business from Duke University. After graduating, Melinda was offered a job at IBM. but she declined it to work at a small software company called Microsoft. Microsoft eventually became a Fortune 500 company worth over $ 1 trillion. Melinda joined the team in 1987 and was the only woman on her team of ten new recruits with business degrees. She came in as marketing manager and multimedia product development. later She was promoted to General Manager of Information Products, and held that position until leaving Microsoft in 1996. Four months after Melinda met Bill Gates at the PC Expo trade show in New York City. She found his sense of humor surprising and refreshing in the context of the institutional atmosphere at the time. When he finally left her with two weeks’ notice, she was initially reluctant because of his over-planning but soon realized that his busy schedule was spontaneously difficult. Accepting this, she agreed on a date. After that fall, the two began their affair and were married seven years later in Lanai, Hawaii. These two have three children. The couple decided to end their 27-year marriage in 2021. They divorced in May 2021.
